BrainFusion's New Look: A Complete Redesign Built for Speed, Simplicity, and Dark Mode
If you've logged into BrainFusion recently, you've probably noticed things look a little different. That's because we've completely redesigned the platform from the ground up.
Every page, every button, every interaction has been rebuilt. Not just a fresh coat of paint, but a full rethink of how BrainFusion looks and feels.
Here's what changed and why.
Dark Mode Is Here
The most requested feature is finally live. BrainFusion now supports a 3-way theme toggle: light, dark, or match your system preference. You'll find it in your avatar menu.
Every page, every component, and every game type has been designed to look great in both modes. Research from the Nielsen Norman Group suggests dark mode can reduce eye strain in low-light environments and improve readability for some users. If you're someone who teaches in a dimly lit room, works late at night, or simply prefers dark interfaces, this one's for you.

Faster and Cleaner
Behind the scenes, we replaced the entire frontend stack. The old framework has been swapped out for a lightweight, modern approach that loads faster and responds quicker.
You'll notice it most on pages with lots of content, like the dashboard, game lists, and session reports. Everything feels snappier because it is.
Improved Game Creation
Creating games got a few quality-of-life upgrades:
- New game type picker with a visual tile layout, making it easier to see your options at a glance
- Redesigned CSV import with a guided 3-step flow: upload, review your questions, then save. No more guessing if your file format was right.
- Cleaner AI generation flow with a streamlined prompt interface and clear progress indicators. New to AI game creation? See our guide on using AI-generated games in the classroom.
If you create games regularly, these small improvements add up fast.
Better Reports and Analytics
Session reports now feature color-coded score breakdowns so you can spot struggling students at a glance. Green for strong scores, amber for middle-of-the-road, red for areas that need attention.
The dashboard stat cards have been redesigned to surface the numbers that matter most without visual clutter. If you're tracking student progress over time, you'll find the data easier to read and act on. For tips on turning that data into action, check out our post on using game data to plan your next unit.
A Polished Experience Everywhere
Beyond the highlights above, there are dozens of smaller improvements:
- Redesigned forms and dialogs that are more intuitive and accessible
- Better keyboard navigation and visible focus indicators that meet WCAG AA accessibility standards
- Improved mobile layouts with responsive designs that adapt to any screen size
- Cleaner admin tools for managing users, announcements, and platform settings
We've touched nearly every page on the platform to make sure the experience is consistent from login to logout.
What's Ahead
This redesign is a foundation, not a finish line. With the new design system in place, we can build and ship new features faster than before. If there's something you'd love to see in BrainFusion, tell us on our Feedback Board.
